Lake Mendota Room

Year-round, guests in the Lake Mendota Room can look west and enjoy a scene of the Lake Mendota shoreline toward the UW-Madison campus. A second large window offers a pillowed window seat overlooking the front garden. Guests will enjoy a queen-size bed, gas fireplace, and private bath featuring a shower with body sprays.

William T. Leitch Room

Named in honor of the builder of this glorious mansion, the William T. Leitch room stands in the center of the home upon ascending the grand central staircase. The room features rich burgundy tones, beautiful antique furniture, and a large picture window overlooking the front garden. A special bookcase filled with delightful books adds to the charm of the room.  Guests will enjoy a queen-size bed, gas fireplace, and private bath with shower.

The Willow Room

According to local lore, the original property owner, William T. Leitch, grew willow trees along Lake Mendota from cuttings from Napoleon’s grave at St. Helena. The Willow Room features Monet-like flower wallpaper, a queen-size bed, and a beautifully designed mantel around the gas fireplace. The private bathroom, originally a storage area for hoop skirts, contains a spacious shower complete with body sprays.

General Pickering Room

The Gothic-revival style of The Livingston Inn is modeled after the Pickering House in Salem, Massachusetts. The vaulted ceiling and linen wallpaper of the Pickering Room convey the grandeur of the architectural origin. The room offers the privacy of the former servant’s quarters and includes a separate sitting area. Its spacious bathroom boasts of being the first indoor facility in the City of Madison. Guests will enjoy a queen-size bed, decorative gas stove, and private bath featuring a delightful shower with body sprays.

Harman Hideaway Room

Stories tell us the last prominent family in our home, Gordon and Dolly Harman, resided in this room as their bedroom, becoming the perfect vantage point to hear their daughters trying to sneak in late at night. Guests will find the Harman Hideaway Room up the staircase off the back parlor in a special place toward the back of the house. The room features a window looking out to Lake Mendota along with a queen-size bed, beautiful gas fireplace, and private bath featuring a delightful rainfall shower with separate hand-held wand.

Cancellation Policy
Reservations & Cancellations: A credit card is required at the time of reservation for a $100.00 deposit. Payment in full is due 30 days prior to arrival. For reservations made less than 30 days prior to arrival, payment in full is due at time of booking. The Livingston Inn accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

If reservations are cancelled more than 30 days prior to arrival, the cancellation fee is $100.00. If reservations are fully or partially cancelled 30 days or less prior to arrival, the cancellation fee is equal to the full amount of the cancelled reservation. If the cancelled reservation is re-booked, we will refund the amount re-booked less a $100.00 cancellation fee.


Breakfast Hours
Breakfast: Coffee and tea are available at 7:00am every morning.  Generally, we begin serving full breakfast buffet at 9:00am daily. We enjoy making breakfast for our guests, so please do not hesitate to ask Peggy if you have a special request. We are also happy to make you a full breakfast earlier upon request.

Pet and Smoking Policies
No pets allowed. My dog, Ezra, a small white rescue dog, resides in the private area of the mansion.  While he would like friends, we cannot allow pets at The Livingston Inn.

No smoking. Out of respect for the health and well being of all guests, we do not allow smoking in the house or any area outside on the property.
